Brian O’Sullivan

Brian O’Sullivan, who has been in the marine business all his adult life and longer!! Brian grew up in the business, which his father started in 1963, spending a lot of time after school and at weekends working in the business as a school kid, particularly when it came to Boat Show time, when the pressure was on to get there on time with very presentable product.

Brian has extensive knowledge not only of the business but, also, of the practical use of so many different types of boats. He grew up in dinghies, motor boats and, indeed, sailing boats. He runs a sea angling business from Fenit Marina, has been a member of the local lifeboat since it returned to the local port about 20 years ago and campaigns his sailing boat, Amazing Grace, to considerable success, particularly in offshore racing, along with some experience in coastal rowing. Having tried everything from angling to waterskiing to the rescue services, and “around the cans”, offshore racing and rowing are by far his personal favourites.

Thomas Chaix

Back to Kerry after a few years in Cork, 39 year old father of two Thomas Chaix joined the team in December 2016 as the Centre development manager. He started sailing aged 12 in Brittany and the virus never left his blood. He progressed in Performance sailing in various dinghies and competed at the highest international standard in Olympic classes (Laser and 470) in the early 2000 years. Since then, anything with a sail whether small or large, fast or slow would just be good enough to enjoy a day on the water. Thomas still competes occasionally on his laser in the Master categories.
After completing a master in Marine biology and a Master in Business, he moved from native France to Ireland to set up his own business in the Performance sailing sector, coaching competitive sailors as his main activity. He upgraded his skills along the way to become a marine surveyor and ensure he carries all the relevant certificates for his coaching activities. He was contracted for over 10 years by the Irish Sailing Association as the Junior national coach with many successes and medals collected along the way by his sailors. Many young sailors having grown to become top international sailors and even Olympians have at some point of their career worked with Thomas.
